Product Review: Mpow Bluetooth 4.0 Headset

Bluetooth speaker headset headphones aren’t really my thing. I always think back on the number of massively overweight men using the small earsets. That’s not to say I don’t love these Bluetooth headphones or even these earbuds. But, since Mpow offered to send me their wireless Bluetooth headset, I couldn’t turn down the offer.

The headset comes in a compact box with all of the tools and accessories you’ll need to get going.

Included with the headset is a charging dock, small and large ear hooks, a white ear bud cover, a micro USB cable, and a clip for attaching the charging dock to your car’s AC vents.

Simple setup

The Mpow has a little juice in the device for powering up and pairing. Pairing is very quick and accomplished by holding the multifunction (phone icon) button down for about 6 seconds.

After you’ve paired the headset, you’re ready to go.

Sound quality

I’d give this headset a 3 of 5 on sound quality; it’s not bad, but certainly needs improvement. The headset doesn’t sit deep in my ear canal, so even at full volume I had difficulty hearing some conversations. Even then, the sound was alright and very crisp.

On the other side, Mrs. The Droid Lawyer actually loved the fact that I had the headset, as opposed to trying to speak with her through my car’s speakers and line out cable. Not to mention having to use an FM transmitter to play the conversation. The Mpow Bluetooth headset has a noise cancelling feature that improves the quality of the conversation.

10-4, I read you loud and clear

Overall, I’m loving the Mpow Bluetooth headset. The headset gives me hands free freedom in the car, which hopefully minimizes the dangers of driving and talking.

The charging dock is nice, though if you want to charge the headset that means you’ll need to add another USB cable or ditch the one charging your phone. I doubt I’ll use the charging dock all too often, especially considering that the headset maintains a 4 hour charge (probably 1 hour of actual talk time).

I also don’t think that I’ll be using the headset for anything other than phone calls, since I prefer listening to music or videos through both ears.

Of course, there are other high-end headsets, but at about $30 (Amazon), the Mpow is a great product for a great value. If you’re looking for a great sounding headset, then you’ll definitely want to consider this Mpow Bluetooth headset. I give the product 4 of 5 stars.
