Learnist is a new app that showed up on my radar, and it’s not half bad.
There’s two initial introductory screens that basically explain everything about Learnist (free).
Essentially, Learnist is the Pinterest for geeks and gurus. Instead of “pinning” different ways to roast chicken or build a fence, you’re gathering intellectual articles, news stories, and other topics.
Think of Learnist as a smorgasbord of topics and special interest stories. Like a number of similar RSS feed readers the stories feed down onto the activity board, allowing you to browse and select as you wish. Pick a topic from politics to Peru.
Overall, I like Learnist. There’s a vast number of boards of stories selected by other users and plenty of content. I did find a couple of issues though, which are mainly interface related.
For instance, sometimes when viewing an article in portrait then landscape mode, the app failed to fully reformat and fill the page.
There’s not much to complain about. Learnist is a good app and will probably appeal to most lawyers given our voracious desire for learning. I searched a number of topics and found many subjects that I’d like to explore further.
Overall, I give Learnist 4 of 5 stars.
