Verizon Dumps Tethering Restrictions

Verizon is announcing that it will no longer block third-party tethering apps, like FoxFi. While I never had a problem accessing tethering, I got several reports that people were having their own problems connecting to the FoxFi app.

Well, because of the FCC, and a $1.25 million payment, Verizon will allow tethering.

I haven’t had to worry about either the “excessive data problem” Verizon complained about, or the connection problem some readers complained about. Additionally, since I switched to the “Share Everything” plan, my only worry is to make sure I don’t exceed my data limits.

One thing I did since the switch was upgrade from the 2 GB plan to the 4 GB, since I’m on vacation and use apps like Pandora and tether, while we’re driving.

Not only did I save money with the switch (texts messages were killing me), I also enabled tethering between my smartphone and up to 10 devices.
