Root the Transformer Prime

Root the Transformer Prime

The Transformer Prime is Asus’s latest addition to the 10.1″ Android tablet market. It’s a pretty remarkable tablet, with power and pizzazz. I played with it at Best Buy before they lost stock. There’s also some problems with the bootloader, which it looks like Asus is remedying.

Well, ahead of the proposed February bootloader unlock, a developer named viperboy has released a root tool for the Asus Transformer Prime.

It’s a pretty technical process (if you’re wanting the geeky part), but appears by all reports to be the easiest root method for the Prime tablet.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Download (Windows) ViperMod PrimeTime v4.1
  2. Plug in your device install the drivers locate in the .zip you downloaded above
  3. Run the viperMOD PrimeTime.exe in the .zip file
  4. Enjoy your rooted Prime
As always, rooting your device will void your warranty and can break your device. If you’re not comfortable with this, DO NOT TRY IT. I disclaim any liability for this method.
